This section is mainly for our so many New and old friends around the World. Thank you for having made our trip so interesting and rich in many ways. Our life at home looks like this!
The first week after Long travel we both stay at home, reading work mails, organizing several practical things (groceries, hairdresser, seeing friends and family, paperwork of our companies, yearly vet check outs of our cats etc etc). And getting over of the JET lag.
On second week Henrika goes back to work, driving every mon, wed and fri 100kms from Oulu to Kemi (in 1h 10min) to have her working day, on tue and thu She sometimes have remote workingdays from homeoffice.
Markku has worked remotely from home already some 20y so nothing changed much. As Long as it is possible to code remotely and have meetings in Teams there is rarely need to go to Office, mainly only for some practical lab work.
The red dot(ish) in the picture above is where we live, in Oulu. As we told, it is only about 250kms South from Arctic circle, red curvy Line above town of Rovaniemi. Yes, we live in north.
As we have told you (Oh yes, I am sure we did, many times!), we have three lovely cats waiting for us to come back home. Black and white big maine Coon girl Miina, smaller domestic Boy Begemot and fair queen of the house, maine Coon lady Halla.
As we arrive back home in the middle of the winter there will be a lot of snow, the sea is frozen and our own sailing boat is being kept inside the storehouse till June. And it is Still cold, but at least we will have some daylight now!
In the middle on May, when the ICE in the sea is mainly melted we will start to plan sailing this season and bring the boat from warehouse from winterkeeping and start to wash, wax and make it ready for the coming season. Our boat is 38” Sirena, made in Finland, designer is Swedish Håkan Södergren. Very nice boat indeed!
In the picture above there is our pier at the moment. The sea all frozen and all the boats inside in the storehalls or covered outside. A lot of snow!
We sail mainly for just fun, but also in the local competitions. And our gast is quite constant, our best friends.
And the time we do not spend in our boat we will enjoy our garden at home.
As you can see, on the patio on left the cats have their catio as well.
And then, we Still have the wintertime here when we will finish the trip and return home. Still cold days and nights ahead, lost of snow falling and dark hours although the daytime is already almost humane.
But hey! Now that we are back home we can use all the sparetime and the darkest hours to plan next winter!
But then, as we have already reserved the flights for next 30th Oct to leave the worst part of Finnish winter, all this is just peanuts. Maybe we will meet again? We do really hope so!
